Vinyle was born under mysterious circumstances in the Monsanto House of the Future. Bankrolled by evil executives at the Monsanto Company, the house was meant to highlight the versatility of plastics as the material of the future. Vinyle, however, grew grew skeptical of plastics and all modern technology, seeing them as poorly-constructed and based on planned obsolescence.

Determined to change things, Vinyle sets out on a two-week expedition to the Great Pacific Trash Island, seeking to forage and repurpose precious minerals from lost technologies. Certain resources are sometimes referred to by the German term Gewürzmetall – “spice metal – because, like a dash of cinnamon or saffron tying a dish’s together, these materials compose only a small part of an electronic device’s makeup but are essential for that device to function. She transposes materials to vinyl records (similar to the Soviets use of x-rays to bootleg western 45s), feeling it will outlast all digital mediums. Her fears prove well-founded when The Great Cataclysm occurs, destroying all digital records of human history. She lives as a recluse in Disney’s Astro Orbiter attraction with her priceless vinyl collection.
